Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American singer and musician, is well known for her music. She was the youngest and the first woman to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to play live in concert and act as a host at the ceremony. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising singer on Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is a scholar and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London in the UK to New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years of age. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies within Encinitas CA. Anouskha even though she is just an teen, has enjoyed an impressive recording and performing career. She regularly performs alongside her father and has been doing so for quite a number of years. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her first single album. In 2002, she released her Grammy Nominated Live At Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is vast as she has appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka isn't only a singer. Bapi The Love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she starred on Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her youth living between London and Delhi then moving to California where she attended high school. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and performed on the sitar for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi the following year. The father of Anoushka travelled across the world with her and she also gained a variety of experience. While still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. In recognition of being a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
